Smart Outdoor RGB Light-Permanent Light

The Utosio permanent outdoor lights are definitely the best product I’ve found. The company seems excellent and thoughtful with their design. And after trying six other smart lights, I’ve landed on Utosio as my go-to brand:

But, my two takeaways would be this:

The lights depend on double-sided adhesive stickers to work. And, even if your surface is perfect for such stickers (like metal), they will inevitably unstick. So, be sure to use the additional clips.
The lights were wisely designed with a wide-angle type lens, which is clever. But, if you install them within 12 inches of your wall, it creates a gingerbread/bubble look across the top of your roofline—which is cute for Christmas, but year-round, it looks terrible. So, consider buying plastic corner brackets (right angle braces) that enable you to mount the lights further away from the wall at a downward angle. The lights not only attach more securely but also create a significantly brighter wash effect over the entirety of my wall, causing the lights to be twice as bright and wash a much greater portion of the wall.
The look was so dramatically better that I wondered: “Why doesn’t Utosio recommend this as standard?” But, then I realized: (A) It’s a more complex install as it requires screws and plastic brackets, and (B) Not everyone has a 2 to 4 foot eave/soffit. Some houses have extremely tight overhangs. Thus, they probably have to recommend a “straight down and close to the wall” install even though it’s not ideal.

Lastly, after a lengthy install, I discovered there was a strip of lights that didn’t go on! I almost lost my marbles and turned into Clark Griswald. But, in the end, the lights were fine. It was a simple Bluetooth proximity issue (I needed to stand closer to the lights while connecting them to the app). But all is well. And when I added up how much I spent on replacing Christmas lights every year (and the time to put them up), these Utosio lights are worth every penny! I definitely love my Utosio lights.

Utosio has amazing customer service! They reached out and gave us a partial refund, which covered the cost of all the extra mounts we purchased and installed.

First, the good: The lights themselves are really good and fun to play around with. The app is easy to use and navigate.

Now, the bad: If you enjoy constantly climbing ladders and replacing adhesive stickies, then you will love these. At this point, I’m fairly confident that I have replaced every single adhesive sticky. For the record, I put all the clips on per the instructions. The photos are from a few days after a light Kansas storm, but the stickies on this portion of the house needed to be replaced already. If these lights had a better way of attaching to your house that would last, I would up this rating to 5 stars. Unfortunately, the factory adhesive does not last and will fail; it’s not a matter of if but when. I put these lights up in mid-July 2024, and at least once a day since then, I’ve had to fix a different section. Today, I replaced over two-thirds of the stickies with far better ones and added clips to secure every other light. Fingers crossed that will hold!

Very easy to put up. I love how I can change colors or choose a scene. Very good quality. We’ll worth the $$.

We were so impressed with how easy t was to install these lights. Significantly easier than traditional lights. And multiple ways to install depending on your house/roof. The lights themselves are beautiful and high quality. Our only issue is that we can’t get it to connect to our WiFi but that may be a problem on our end and not the device. Would 100% recommend!

Exactly what the description says

Multiple modes and patterns. Brighter than expected. Dimmable tho. Programmable too.
Tip: Dry after washing your area. It won’t stick when damp.
Keep your chimney in mind when measuring and avoid putting lights on brick. Facing downward is the preferred direction. Alexa works great with it. On at sunset, off at sunrise.
I love it. Worth the money.
